The ("Roda") is the circle of people within which Capoeira game ("Jogo") is played. People who make up the circle play Brazilian instruments, clap and sing along, which creates the supportive energy ("Axe") for two players inside the circle. Players engaged in the bodily conversation and focus on emphasizing their sophisticated skills (tricky kicks, catches, hookups, acrobatic movements etc) rather than on attacks and injuring the partner.

The philosophy and techniques thought in capoeira include Seguranca (Security/Safety), Respeito (Respect), Responsabilidade (Responsibility), Malicia (Cleverness/ Street smarts ), Liberdade (Liberty /Freedom). The spirit and energy of a Capoeira Roda are contagious! Please join us to have lots of fun and celebrate the freedom of movement!
