Immerse yourself into the world of Japanese contemporary dance theatre. In this workshop, we will explore using exercises to link the breath to the movements of the body experiencing "being moved," from an internal or external source, rather than consciously moving a body part.

We will practice:
• simple preparatory exercises
• meditative “Breath-Walking” using elements of nature (wind, earth, trees, etc.) as the theme • contact improvisation
• using voice as an extension of the breath
• facial expression
• facial and body expression to do a short improvised dance
• improvised performance will be given by each participant

Join Rie and Hiroyuki for first ever Japanese dance workshop offered at the BaliSpirit festival! Try something new and experience full self-expression through the powerful practice of Butoh.
